Mihail Sosnovschi was born in Chișinău (Moldova). After his education at the Ballet Academy of Moldova and at the Conservatory of the City of Vienna he joined Le Jeune Ballet de France in 2000. In 2001 he joined the Ballet of the Wiener Staatsoper, where he was appointed Demi-soloist in 2003. In 2010 he was promoted to Soloist of the Wiener Staatsballet.

His repertory includes many incredible roles such as Colas and Alain in Frederick Ashton‘s „La Fille mal gardée“, Prinz Alexej, Adjutant des Prinzen and Italien in Renato Zanella’s „Der Nußknacker“, Romeo, Mercutio and Benvolio in John Cranko’s „Romeo und Julia“, Hilarion and Bauernpaar in Elena Tschernischova’s Giselle and many more.

He created roles in Renato Zanella’s „Duke’s Nuts“ and „Renard“ (Hahn), in Jorma Elo’s „Ein Sommernachtstraum“ (Puck), in Boris Nebyla’s “Nachmittag eines Fauns”, in Eno Peci’s “Herzblume”, in Vesna Orlic’s “Out of Tango”, in Natalia Horecna’s “Contra Clockwise Witness” (Gin Man/Prinzip), in Antony McDonald’s/Ashley Page’s “Ein Reigen” (Egon Schiele) and in Andrey Kaydanovskiy’s „Der Feuervogel“ (Koschey).

Mischa has appeared as a guest dancer in many European countries and overseas. Furthermore, he has been teaching at the Ballet Academy of the Vienna State Opera since September 2017.

For the guest performance of the Vereinigung Wiener Staatsopernballett in Bad Aussee in August 2019 he created the ballet „Der Schwan“.

Prizes and honors: 1st Prize: ÖTR Contest in Vienna 2001, Grand Prix: Concours International de Danse de Luxembourg (2001), Karl Musil Gedächtnispreis (2016), Premio Capri Danza (2017), Award „Gloria Muncii“ and certificate of honour (Diplomă de Onoare) of the Republic of Moldova for outstanding cultural merits (2018), Grand Prix de la Culture 2018 of the Wiener Privatbank.
